I have a SMLE No1 Mk3* Ishapore model of 941 which I am trying to get the front sight in alignment. The front sight blade has to be drifted to the maximum right to get the rifle to shoot point of aim. The reason is the front sight base uses a keyway and key to fix to the barrel. If you look at the photo you can see the keyway is cut slightly off center to the right or clocked a little past 12:00. Does anyone know if this is the normal configuration. Assuming the barrel keyway is cut TDC this seems odd to me. I have purchased two more of the bases from different suppliers and they are the same as well. I do think this can be corrected with file and shim, but before I do that I would like to know if I just happen to have some defective parts
