You are correct. Receiving FFL included in the shipping papers, NO ammo or explosives, bolt out or rifle disassembled. USPS insured for full ! value of the rifle. That is all the Federal laws, but I don't know about receiving in CA or other states. FWIW

OH! You should take a copy of the buyer's FFL dealer to the PO to insure that is the same as the address on the package. Package it well, as it will be a bridge for 1000 pounds of other packages on top of the shipping container.

thanks.  the problem comes from the dealers lack of knowledge of the laws.

All: I'm the other party and it has been a hassle. After talking to my local dealer a second time, he won't budge. He insists to deal only  with an ffl dealer on the SELLERS end. I went to a different dealer and he does business like you all have described so hopefully on with the purchase. That only took 100 miles of travel to clear up.

I looked on the web and apparently it is common to require an ffl on both ends of a sale. Fed Ex requires that along with a copy of the sellers divers license.

Hope this clears the mud a little.

That is why I never use FedEx. My goodness, I drive 85 miles each way to have coffee with my friends. There is a reason this is called the "wide open spaces".

What about the emissions? (Jeff faints)

My 2006 Dodge pickup with Hemi engine stills gets 20 miles to the gallon. I'm about as concerned with emissions as abducted by aliens. (Ric laughs)

I once shipped a shotgun to a friend on another site. I went through the USPS with no problems. I had a copy of his FFL and addy's matched. Broke the gun down according to federal law and the PO shipped it no problem. You only need an FFL on the receiving end.
