Are the results and equipment list from the CBA Nationals that were shot this past weekend available anywhere? Thanks Bill.

There won't be much posted on the forum unless the competitors post it. Like John said the full report will be in the next FS. I am processing the photos and will have them posted soon. The videos will come later.

I don't know what it was like at Bench 5 on Sunday, but there I was 1st relay on Saturday.  With the wind coming from the left, lane 4 flags pointed left except for a couple sometimes pointing right, lane 6 flags pointed right except for the ones that flipped left and it seemed they all did a pirouette one in a while just for fun.  Try a 223 in that.  Thankfully things were a little better on Bench 17 Sunday.

On remeasuring with a yardstick, my hold off was 14". If you are looking for guidance, you need to find someone else. My hold was somewhere on the white backer with no reference, just a guess. I would check after each shot to see if the bullet hit the target paper at all. Then I would recheck the wind flags to see how badly I misjudged, then adjust a little.

Keep in mind that a CBA tournament is 4, 5 shot groups; 2, 10 shot groups; and 4 score targets of 5 bulls each.

I would be more inclined to aim at the tennis ball, baseball or softball.

For the first time, videos of the NT will be put onto the website. I took 67 videos and over 250 photos. So you will be able to see the various wind flags, spinners and other wind indicators in action. I hope to post them soon, but please be patient.

Paul do you just hold off on the outer ring as your initial POA and then adjust your subsequent POA's based on POI or do you hold the same POA and run your group?  Not sure how its done with cast BR. 

In jacketed BR with strong winds (15 to 20 mph) we would hold no more than a ring or two off and put them down as fast as we can adjusting the POA 1/2 value from the last POI.  That'd be on a strong 9 or 3 O'clock push. Over 20 - 25mph you bring a rosary to the bench with you.  Can't imagine how tough it is shooting in those conditions with cast. 

Normal conditions (if there is such a thing) would be to hold on the mothball or 6 O'Clock on the mothball, have zero on the first ring and if winds were ~ 10 to 15 mph we could stay on paper adjusting POA after every POI by that same 1/2 value. And adjust practices when that plan fell apart.

Everyone has their own way of shooting groups so that may not be a fair question.

But I would like to hear about your POA, where you zero to and general group management practices with cast BR.  Thanks, Bill.

It was about 90 + degrees both days. Wind was not much of a factor with my 75 grain 6mm bullet at 2100 fps. At 200 yards my hold off was only 9 inches.

I am not expert about wind reading to say, but conditions must have been tough because very few screamer patches were awarded and only one record was fired.

The match was very well run and Ed Camp and the Pioneer Gun club should be congratulated on a fine job.

No push for the formal publishing of results John.  I'm used to chatter from those attending about weather conditions, who did well and how the event went.  Second hand information is that the conditions were tough with short calms preceded and proceeded by switchy winds.  Not sure how strong the gusts were but it sounded like a pretty good, well run event.   

And from an earlier post I now understand that finning improves the aerodynamics for bullet flight.  Personally I find that a heavy lengthy pressure cast with a full pot gives the greatest amount of finning.  With the bullet looking like some of those mohair cut hairdo's from the 80's.  Powder coated with an orange tint would set it off.  Thanks, Bill.

It would be fun to have someone write up a little match report with the results, equipment list, how easy/rough the conditions were. A few pictures showing shooters and their equipment would go a long way. But folks are just getting back and settling in to the real world. Thanks, Bill.

I do not yet see the results listed under "Match Results" on the website. They will soon be here, formatting  for the web takes time. I am also awaiting the results. This is the first National Matches in years that Alice and I have missed.
