Small rifle and small pistol primers prices are going down. I've seen them in the mid 50s now at several places. There may be hope yet.

My local Scheels got a metric crap ton of Winnie LR magnum primers. $79.99 w/ another 10% off. It was the most plentiful supply of LR primers I have seen in a retail shop in a long time. Even though the price is higher than the good ole’ days it is cheaper than I have seen in a while.

Which Scheels? The closest one to me is in Eden Prarie, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis.

I have seen them at my LGS just sitting there at $79 a brick. I think folks are just passing on them now. The purchasing orgy has abated for now. Wait until November!
With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

I was in Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte ,NC yesterday. Claim to be the largest gun shop in America, it is big. They had most sizes of primers but no large rifle. Most were $89.95 for a carton. Several months ago I bought a carton of LR there so I guess they get a few. Hyatt has always been a little pricey.
Large rifle primers have been almost non existent around her for several years

I have not seen prices coming down much but I have seen availability increase. I have found enough Remington primers to fill the gap for now. They have never been my favorite brand but I'll use what I can buy.

Sioux City is where I saw a Scheels in 2007 when I was there for the first CBA Military National Tournament. I’m betting that was long before a Scheels showed up here in the Twin Cities.

Yeah. You have to come down again for military nationals!!! I think the Sioux City store was the third in th chain. I remember it as a kid in the late 80’s early 90’s.

Cost of primers going down, a bit, while powder remains critical and by all indications will get much worse in the near future. Reference China's move to halt export of nitrocellulose to the U.S. which will greatly impact the availability and cost of powder, exacerbated by the government's increasing demands for small arms and artillery munitions and European consumption (ie: the Ukraine war). If you are low on something my friends, now is the time to stock up.....

I just saw the first LR primers in years at Bass Pro. 90$ a brick and a 5% discount for ex military. They had plenty on the shelf unlike previous times. I still have a good supply so I will wait a bit and see if the price goes lower. Powder is becoming available and kegs of the popular rifle powders are in stock. Powder prices still cause indigestion which can be alleviated if you look at factory ammo. You still save money by reloading.

Ric, in the comment above this one was likely thinking of the Servacio Adventuras ones.
Those ones are from Argentina. ( P.S. - work fine for me. SRP at least. )
Easy to get a bit confused Now a days, as we are seeing more Off Shore components than USA made ones here in the USA.

The smaller show held near me has not gotten that message. Their prices on primers were higher than the balls on a giraffe. most of their primers were $40.00 more per thou. than current store prices. Everything at that show was over priced. It was more like a show and tell get together than a place to buy and sell. Only good thing there was some local unfiltered honey.

If the small p&r primers can come down to around $52-56, then the large will also. Guess that all depends on the wars and our ability to resupply our military.

That one definitely goes into my book of quotes. Lol

Meanwhile Bruno's got in a shipment of Federal LR, $120 per 1000. Plus shipping plus hazmat fee. Really depends on what you are buying and from where on if the prices are coming down or increasing.

Local farm store was 7.99 for cci LR and 8.99 for mag LR. Not 59 per 1000 but not 120 as well.

Going store price, when available runs from $80 to $120 per thousand primers depending on the type of primer. "Match" primers are garnering the highest price.
Based on prices going up, not down, the last couple years I took a gamble and bought 23,000 primers of assorted Winchester and CCI LR, SR, LP and SP for $40 per thousand at an estate sale. I may get bit in the distant future but given the current inflation and scarcity I doubt it.

Larry, I think most everyone would be happy to buy any primers now at $40. I also agree that it is unlikely you will get burned by the purchase.
I made purchases of assorted primers in bulk up to about 19,000 a couple years ago at $39.00 a 1000. I haven't regretted it one bit. I have a offer now on the table for an additional 3,300 SR & SP (mostly SP) at $35 a 1000. The guy is getting out of handloading all together. My local gun palace has had about 15,000 primers on the shelf at $80 and hasn't sold a single pack of 100 in almost 9 months. It is a small shop without reloading equipment or supplies of any kind. Business has really slowed down for them and the owner is thinking of letting me have them for around $40 a 1000. Apparently I am the only handloader customer they have and certainly the only bullet caster, I am sad to say.

Of course, the "wrong man" could win the election, and the "mostly peaceful" protesters start protesting "mostly peacefully" on Lake Street and other places, again.
