Well powder is almost everywhere again, prices are good back at normal, they sell quickly though. Some examples:

2400 - $30
Bullseye - $28
Accurate #2 - $25
Tightgroup - $23

Primers?????? From $70 - $110 at online sources we all know, that scares me. But if powder is back to normal, then primers can't be far behind. My personal guess is that we will see a 30% + increase when all settles down putting primers at $40-50 per brick. But I hope I am wrong.

Powder is back 37-45$ a pound. At the local Big Box several fast pistol and a dozen rifle speeds. You might not find exactly what you want but you could load any caliber with what was available. Primers come and go, there were Winchester  SP @ 89$ a brick - no limit. They lasted two days. Small rifle last week, maybe large rifle next week, they go quick, you have to be there.

Another few months and we may be back to normal.

Locally our LGS has more powder available than in a while, nothing I need. They also have more primers in stock, but so far just small pistol and shotshell. For our small town that's a lot compared to the past 4 years.

Coeur d’Alene ID,Black Sheep had primers, no limit, 75 bucks/1000, small rifle or pistol, shot shell or 50BMG (Whoopee). Powder no limit, but they got what they got. Had some Varget a while back, spendy , but…

Trail Boss the is solution to for people who load with a progressive machine and can't check how much powder is in the case. Other than that it has no advantage over other fast pistol powders. No matter what Mic says, powder position is a myth with anything like a standard pressure load. FWIW

I like it for target loads in revolver calibers. I was never able to get enough in a 9mm case to cycle the action.

Lately our Scheels has had CCI large pistol and small pistol primers for $65 a brick. CCI small rifle for around $55 a brick. They had a couple bricks of CCI large rifle match for $100 a brick the other day. It has been spotty though. Absolutely no CCI large rifle or any primers by Winchester at all. They have one pound bottles of IMR4227 now at $41.99. Cripes!!!! No other powders except for a bunch of high dollar VitaVouhri.

A friend of mine went to a gun show here in SE Michigan.  He found a table that had quite a few of the pistol speed powders for sale. They were $ 47.00 a pound.  Needless to say he didn't buy any and didn't even waste his time looking at the primers.  Looks like some are starting to become available again which is encouraging.

Here in Georgia powder is coming in and selling at around 30$ a pound. Supplies and types are limited but if you wait you may find what you want. The hoarders prices have come way down,

No primers here in stores. The local hoarders are advertising primers at 200$ a brick. This will not last once supply improves which will be soon.

I have seen some powder at several shops ranging from North Idaho to Central Washington.Primers are nearly unobtainable at reasonable prices. All vendors have limits on sales. The good news is Powder is staying in stock for more than a few days. Seems it's just a matter of time until stocks return. Prices seem to be up about 30%. The powders available are mostly newer formulations. No Varget, Unique, BE, 4350, or H335 just to name a few.

One of the local gun shops has primers, large rifle and large rifle magnum for $11 per 100. They also have 1 pound containers of Alliant 10X for $93 or so. I am not likely to spend much money there any time soon.

I visited a couple local shops this afternoon, they both had a good supply of ammo. .30-06 was $25 - $30 a box. Neither one carries reloading components. I was encouraged by both the inventory and the prices.

Thanks John for confirming what I am seeing and what I think will happen. Many people are telling me I'm wrong and the shortage will continue for a long time and prices will be sky high. I think by the first of next year we will be seeing big strides in getting back to normal.

For first time I stood in line for Sportsman's Warehouse from 10 minues before opening this morning hopping to get a pound of AA#2 and primers. They are limiting sales to one pound of powder and half a carton (500) primers.  I got lucky. The powder cost $29.  Chopping the primer carton's in half allowed them to use the 100 box price so $22 for the 500.  Fair enough and far below some stories I have heard.

John, that's the lowest I've heard of yet and that is good news. It is just a good indication of the getting back to normal. It will still take until the after the new year for the manufactures to catch up. If we have another covid shut down, which sounds likely, I don't think people will hoard as bad as they did in 2020 and the early part of 2021.

Back in the arab oil embargo days, there was expensive fuel, or no fuel.  Take your choice when it comes to components.

Went to Rural King yesterday. They only wanted $38/ box of some obscure brand 357 mag. No 9mm. $90/brick of 22rf. I'm not counting on the drought being over. The conditions that caused this are still in place.
