I casted some 311291 hollowpoints today. I was reminded of one of the first times I used that mold. It took me a while to get used to the added steps associated with the pin. I have a little clip that holds the pin above the pot while I open the mold and drop the bullet. I was having a heck of a time handling the pin. I dropped a bullet, closed the mold, and went to the pot to fill the mold again. I lifted the lever and proceeded to pour molten lead straight through the mold and onto the bench! I'd forgotten to put the pin back in! Anyone else have an oops moment they care to share?

A few years ago I was loading 100 44 SPL and when done I was thinking back on the loading session because my wife and separately my BIL both came in which did distract me. The loads were for my BIL to use in his Charter Arms Bulldog. I was questioning if I had been paying the attention that I should have to be confident in not throwing a double charge.
Well I pulled all bullets, didn’t fine a double charge, but I now use a short dowel marked with a pencil so I can check all loads quickly and reliably.
Most of my loading is on a turret press and powder is dropped in the order which eliminates the possibility of a double charge.

Never ever shot anyone else's handloads! Even your best friends, just pull the bullets and never tell him.

My friend loaded some 45-70 smokeless loads for me with 3031. I was shooting lead vapor out the end of the barrel. The bullets were coming apart in the barrel. Checked the loads. They were a full 1/3 (33%) over max and I was shooting them in a trapdoor. I never shot his reloads again.
