Just spent 9 hours going through the 14 acres of exhibits. Saw some old friends and acquaintances that I haven't seen since the last show in Houston.

Better to ask questions than me try to sum up what I saw. I will answer them to the best of my ability if anyone is interested.

* - On a personal note, Katie Pavlich is just as gorgeous in person as she is on tv, but my wife wouldn't let me bring her home.

What does the pretty Katie Pavlich do to protect herself in the jungle of NYC where she works?

Don't know. She is featured in the new Volquartsen catalog and was there signing autographs. I did offer to be her 24 hr. bodyguard while in Texas.

Ok, no interest so far.

One rifle that was interesting was the new CZ 600. I am a big fan of CZ rifles and was really disappointed when they discontinued the 550 series a few years ago. Since then they have skyrocketed in price and I haven't been able to obtain a 7mm Mauser. While I have 4 of them in various calibers, I still want the 7mm, but I digress.

The 600s have a glass smooth action, with a very short 60° bolt throw. The walnut models also have a walnut bolt knob, giving them a very classy look. The grip is a little large, but still feels good. Right now they are only available in 4 calibers, but I was assured more are coming. The safety is very unconventional, a push button right behind the bolt, which would take some getting use to, but it was very fast to operate. It should be noted that while these were intended to be a switch barrel rifle, an issue has arrived that required a recall to permanently install the barrel and all current rifles do not feature removable barrels. Still they are worth a look.

How much does it weigh? Ballpark price. Any chance it is chambered in 7.62 x39?

Thanks!

I have one of the original 600's in .30-06.I'd prefer to see it brought back into production.

Tom,

The suggested retail is around $800. Right now the calibers are .223, .308, .300 win mag & .30-06 in the wood stock. There is a "trail version" with a sliding stock in 7.62x39, however it is pricy at $1155. The wood stock model weighs 6.8 lbs and the trail 6.1. There are two other variations.
