I want to replace the factory grips.

Hogue makes a nice rubber? Mono grip that absorbs recoil well. Mustang makes a large size wooden grip for bigger hands. These can be filed and sanded for a custom fit. Just be sure of your grip frame type before you buy.

New model Super Blackhawk have two grip frame sizes. If it is the square back trigger you need to look for something for “SuperBlackhawk” this frame is longer than the standard Blackhawk. They are also producing SuperBlackhawks with a steel standard frame, instead of aluminum. If you have this frame you need to find new model black hawk grips. Hopefully that helps.

Alco, I suppose the question is, just what are you after?

I bought a set of oversize timber grips for my ROA from Texas Grips. Henry has a great selection and the website is extremely comprehensive.

You might try Altamont grips, I have a set for my Bisley single six. They seem a little undersized, but, so did the factory grips. My revolver was made for wholesaler Lipseys and I wonder if the gripframe is a little oversized Or you can always make a set of you own.

While the houge is purty ugly in most instances it sure does fit my hand well. Our old blackhawk wears the ugly houge but I can't swap it due to the comfort.

Depends if you want  some purty wood grips or some that will enhance the shootability of the pistol. I have a set of Pachmaer decelerator rubber grips on a Ruger new model BH 4 5/8 44 special and  wouldn't trade them for anything else. They also make some for the Super Blackhawk and are resonably priced.

check out Brownells or Amazon

Yes, for shooting the Pachmayr's are the best.

Pachmayr gets my vote for recoil reducing. Fits me better and is less bulky than Hogue.

However, Hogue has a very nice line of the "standard" shaped grips and would be my choice for good looks. I really like fake ivory on single action.

My opinion (and we all know about opinions) is the Hogue Monogrip makes a Blackhawk look like a Klingon blaster.

The factory Ruger wood grips look the best. I would buy a good shooting glove.

My 1996 S&W 686 has Hogue grips and I love them , but rubber grips on a Blackhawk just does not look correct.

These are not Rugers. One is a S&W Model 57, .41 Mag. The other WAS a Dan Wesson .357 Super Mag, modified to .41 caliber that uses modified 220 Swift cases.

Both have Hogue grips. The S&W since 1983 and the DW since 1987. The grips are custom made to fit your hand. They fit well and work well under recoil.

Since 1982 the S&W has taken (6) Wyoming mule deer and the DW has taken (16) Wyoming mule deer, all cast bullets, all iron sights. Both have been used for MANY handgun silhouette matches. The S&W in Revolver and Standing category and the DW in Unlimited category. This was before scopes were allowed in IHMSA competition.

I had a TC Contender chambered in ,45 Colt with Pachmyr grips which I didn’t care for.
