Hello friends,

Somewhere in the back of my head I seem to remember someone posting a reference sheet that contained all of the Marlin bore dimensions from beginning to present.  The tables included numbers of lands and grooves, groove depth, twist rate, etc.

I can't remember if it was on this forum or not.  If any of you guys could help me out I would appreciate it.

If I ever come across it again  I will print it out and put it in a folder.

Thanks,

Steve in N CA

Tom,

Thanks for posting that article on the Marlin Microgroove barrels.

One thing that Glenn did not point out regards the Marlin Model 322, cal 222Rem. that was produced with Microgroove

rifling.  I have one .  They were known for Very Low round count before they would "Puke" .

I had great accuracy at first,  but then, Mine Puked  into a "Spray and Pray"

situation while I was in S.D. shooting Prairie dogs.  It had under 800 rounds thru it. I tried cleaning the barrel, using copper solvent, etc.  Next day,  3 to 5 rounds were "OK" , then back to spray and pray.

I still have the rifle, but with a Douglas 12 twist barrel which gives me great accuracy.

Perhaps the short barrel life  is why my rifle was bought from Klein's Sporting Goods in 1958 for only $88.

I  wonder if Marlin had "Dumped" the 322s to Klein's due to the barrel problem.

Glen E. Fryxell wrote an article on Marlin's Microgroove Barrels that might be some help.

I found the info I was looking for.  It was in Brophy's book about the history of Marlin.
