Good News for Some People In My Area

A friend of mine was looking for some black powder, so I sent him to my favorite place to buy components, about 54 miles from here. He not only bought the black powder he was needing, but guess what, they had primers. They were limiting buyers to one brick and the prices weren't jacked up. They were a little higher than they used to be, but reasonably priced for this day and age.

I'm so sick of seeing gun-show dealers and the gun broker people jacking prices up, That I hope this is a sign of things to come. They even had magnum pistol primers that I have heard are extinct.

Remember the rush to buy S&W Model 29 revolvers after the first Dirty Harry movie. Took S&W two years to fill the pipeline and another year to see one for sale at a local gun store.

Going to the shows for five years after that, the shark-type dealers still had their high-priced Model 29's sitting there. Too much money in them to sell at factory prices and too dumb to take a loss and move on.

We'll probably see high-priced primers for sale at shows for several years until these dealers decide to take a loss and shoot the primers themselves. Sympathy for them is best found in the dictionary, shortly before the word "syphilis".

I also remember a lot of those model 29's showing up at local gun shops when their owners found out that they kicked more than the Hollywood versions.

Not unlike the rush for AR15s a few years back.  I'm afraid the problem now is caused more by hoarders than by speculators.

The dealer that I spoke of always had some primers during the last big depression several years ago. if he was getting low , he wouldn't put anything out on the shelves and save them for his good customers. You just had to ask to get some primers. Not long before my last visit to his store, in which he was sold out of about everything, that is when he told me that he had the biggest order of components scheduled to arrive that he had ever made .Maybe he finally got that order. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if he has any WW large rifle primers. That is the only thing that I am a little short on and I probably have more of them than I need at the present time.
