Back in 2003 I build up an Isaac Haines flintlock in .40cal for target shooting and small game hunting. It wears a Colerain barrel and has always shot VERY well. Just recently I needed to change patching material so have been working on perfecting the load again and changing to the Dutch Schultz 'dry lube' system.

50m/55y today.

30gr 3Fg, .395 cast pure lead ball, 0.021 patch.

50gr Swiss 3Fg, .395 cast pure lead ball, 0.021 patch.

Both groups approximately 3/4 inch. The old gun still has it.

This is me a few years back shooting "Isaac" in competition.

Love my Isaac Haines I built in 1988 from a Dixie Rifle Kit. She is a 50 caliber and still shoots as true as the day she was completed. She has put a lot of venison on the table over the years.

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Really like your rifle. I started mine in 2002 and finished it in 2007. Also a Haines "Style" but in .54 caliber and no fancies; I call it an apprentice rifle. Colerain barrel has shot very well and very happy with it. But I just shoot it a couple of times a year. Too many other projects Ed Harris gives me.

Here's what my .54cal. I. Haines (Chambers kit, Waksupi built) did a few weeks ago with a .535" RB (Lee mould) + .011" - 012" "Sew Classics" twill patch over 70gr. GOEX FFg: 10 shots @ 25 yd. from a rest
