Would cosmoline work as bullet lube? Remington once used cosmoline on the Kleenbore 22 LR as lube.

I'm just creeped out by the thought of cosmoline. Stuff still gives me nightmares.

I spent way too many hours as a kid scrubing it off lots & lots of old military rifles from ye olde yankee trader (?) Or some such places. My Mom just loved washing those jeans and t-shirts stinking of gasoline and covered in grease.

And showering with a cleanser covered sponge. And that was after wiping down with acetone.

I remember that cosmolene and beeswax used to be mixed 50/50 for bullet lube.

Because I said so!

I agree with Ric,

The only statement that is true is "U" is for Union Metallic Cartridge".

The rest is up to discussion and cosmoline is not paraffin wax.

Same here Rich, I found nothing in the video to be truthful. He is not very knowledgeable.

Wonder how they determined it was cosmoline,  Most 22 ammo seems to be some waxy substance.  I think 70 year old cosmoline  would be a lot harder than what they are showing,  Also the Kleenbore priming removed potassium chlorate, not mercury.
