I see that Midway has some cci 34 primers designed for the 7.62 NATO [308]. Does anyone have any experience with them?

My friend and I purchased several thousand of them (made in 1995) years ago and had few problems in my milsurp rifles, but I had too many failures to fire in others.  My Mod. 70 Win. (.30-06) for example balked at them, but my Ruger #1 (.243Win.) digested them without a hiccup.

#34s are a little harder and hotter than 200s. They are designed for use with the 7.62X51 and ball powders, but you can use them with other loads. Just be aware that you need to reduce the load to begin with. I've used them mainly with military calibers in surplus rifles with no issues.

I have had good luck with them. I use them in the M1. They are allegedly having the same mix as the CCI LR magnum primers, with a thicker cup. They are intended to reduce the likelyhood of slamfires in the M1's and M1A's.

My 30.06 Enfield had no problem with them, but the Winchester 30-30 gave many miss-fires.

Not a bad deal as any primers are in short supply.

This is the premium primer for me! I started using them as they prevent double firing in some of my military semi-autos. They are also excellent for general use.
