Afternoon folks. Sorry to bother but while redoing our basement I found boxes of Cast Performance160 WFNPB, 180 and 187  WFNPB. Been all over the web and can't find anything remotely organized that gives me appropriate powders { I should have most }, starting and max loads. If the info is on this board a link would be appreciated. Please don't send me to Grizzly Cartridge as their "reloading info" doesn't have anything relevant for these bullets and the phone numbers don't seem to work.

I'd like my young nephew to take a small doe at fifty yards or less with a Marlin 1894 in .357.

Thanks much for any and all advice.

Your best powders will most likely be H110 and W296 (by the way they are the same powder), and 2400, and IMR 4227.

Starting loads for a cast 180 gr. bullet are:

4227 12.9, gr.  max 14.2 gr.

2400 11.1 gr  max  12.3 gr

H110  12.9    max  14.0    OAL  1.590"

for the 160 gr.WFN

2400  11.4  max15.5gr

H110  15.8  max 16.5 gr.

4227  11.8  max 17.0 gr.   COAL 1.590"

Is this for a rifle or a hand gun?  If a rifle use H110, W296, or IMR 4227..  A

As always start at the bottom and work up slowly.  Good shooting.  These recommendations come from the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 4th edition.

2400 11.1gr   max 12.3gr

H110 or W296 12.7  max 14.0   OAL 1.59 In.

You can try "LoadSwap" on the Beartooth Bullets site for rough data using LBT pattern bullets. Neither Beartooth nor Cast Performance use exact LBT bullet designs, but they should be close enough to get you started. If you want to work up to max. loads, you will need to use a chronograph to track your progress.
