Has anybody out there built or bought a breech seating tool for a rolling block other than the push type? I can seat bullets of pure lead in my rolling block with a push rod type,  but not 40:1. For that I need some mechanical leverage.

Ross

I have a RB in 38-55, I BS for all of my single shots.  I looked for the ammo box with the 38-55 seater and fired ammo in it, but it is not to be today, I will try to do this with words

First rotary extractor or sliding extractor? Always make sure the extractor is in when seating the bullet

I have made two different seaters, one is a plugged case, and the other is an adjustable sliding plug with a long piece attached to the adjustable pin....this one has the rim removed on the extractor side.  To use make a long brass pin about 1/2" dia and a pin on the end to fit in the primer pocket, insert the bullet in the case and tap it in with a hammer and the long rod...this one is adjustable for seating depth

the other is case filled with a solid pin with the seating depth fixed with the pin extension from the case. slide bullet into chamber and tap into place with the pin, making sure the extractor is in otherwise you will break it, the reason the case is not cut on the rim, the extractor is needed to remove the case from the  chamber

I have a picture of a seater that attaches to the barrel, but it is not my design and I hesitate to post it, pm with an email and I will send it to you

If I find mine i will post it

Hope this helps

4060: mine is 32-40 and I just spent a day unsuccessfully try just that. My design needs a second anchor point. If I had a camera I'd send a pic.
