Well is this the straw that breaks the camels back. If the postage costs weren't high enough already....

From a supplier over there which I use regularly for BP accessories

USPS has suspended all mail to Australia until further notice.

International Service Suspension Notice – effective September 17, 2021

Effective September 17, 2021, the Postal Service will suspend international mail acceptance to
Australia until further notice due to unavailable transportation.

Customers are asked to refrain from mailing the following services to Australia until further notice:

Priority Mail International (PMI) – effective 9/17
First-Class Package International Service (FCPIS) – previously suspended 9/3

We are sorry for this inconvenience.  Information on the length of time this suspension will last is unknown.  Until we are notified that we can ship again via USPS, the following alternatives are available:

We can hold your order and ship when service resumes.
We can cancel your order.
We can ship FedEx at a higher shipping cost, which varies per order.
Specify your choice and send response.

Ric, I think you have probably hit the nail on the head, no-one is going to tell me that international air travel has ceased completely. Mail must get from one hemisphere to the next somehow. I know that we have effectively locked out international travellers, and in Qld we have zero cases of the virus because of it, Jeff's mob is getting rid of their last but the travel bubble is so fragile.

So with the lack of powder, primers no worries, bits and pieces unable to be sourced from the US, thank god I cast. All those "trinkets" will have to wait.

And I am not going to pay Fedexs prices, it was already costing me as much in postage as the bits I was buying.

Check you legislation and see if you can find a government act referring to postal services.  Post tends to be a mandated service that must carry on.  NZ govt is subsidising flights to keep freight moving.  We have the "Postal Services Act 1988".

Domestic post will continue "at some level". International post is dependent upon "space available" on commercial airlines. FedEx is still available for a price.

I wonder what the translation is for “unavailable transportation”? Bill.

Patience isn’t a virtue, it’s a delay tactic.

How about "commercial air freighter with unused10% capacity willing to haul USPS cheap".
