alloy mixing question

a long time ago  i mixed a alloy that is 11 bhn. don't remember what is in it. i have 200# of it. i also have 125# of linotype pigs @ 22 bhn. if i mix 125# of each (50/50) would i not have a alloy that is appx 17BHN??

It depends on just what is in that 11 bhn alloy. I run a lot of .22's out of 50/50 Wheelweights and lino and get around 18 bhn. If that 11 bhn alloy gets much of its hardness from a high tin content, you wouldn't see as much hardness increase from the lino. You might take about 5 pounds of each and make a test batch first. There are a couple of alloy blending programs out there but they require you to know the composition of everything going into the mix.

17 bhn sounds about right. I would mix up a small batch of 20# and save the pure linotype for later use.
