I am running low on Orange Magic, and am going to need more lube soon. Mostly used in 45 and 40 cal handguns for IPSC. I want minimal smoke. Orange magic smoke is tolerable, but I think I can do better. I have heard good things about Carnauba Red not smoking too much. Any experiences with this product in this regard? Any input would be appreciated.

I have used it for several years. I think you will like it. call Glen and ask for a stick and give it a try. The price sure is right. m

I use it in all of my rifle and pistol bullets from .30 cal to .45 cal. Works great no mess, stays in place and no leading. Price is right and service is good. Don't think you can go wrong.

:coffee Carnuba Red has very little smoke on an outdoor range. I can shoot 50 rounds of it just fine. Indoors, you'd be doing something that I haven't yet. Never used it on an indoor range.
It has the faint smell of cherries, smells a little like burnt cherry pie filling when you fire it. It's very much more tolerable than Orange magic. It's very lightly scented.
Good Luck,
Ron

Anybody here use the Magma lubes? Do they require a heater?

Anybody here use the Magma lubes? I am setting up a Star sizer for large volume in .45 ACP for some guys into IPSC and IDPA, primarily with H&G68 and 5 grains of Bullseye. Intend to do rounds by the 5 gallon bucket full. Magma has solid sticks for the Star sizer for $17.50/pound, which is alot less expensive than most lubes. Anybody here used their stuff?

Ed Harris; I can't answer your question about Magma lubes. However, I have been using Lars White Label lubes for several years with complete satisfaction. I use Carnauba Red but it requires heat. He has several other lubes including NRA 50/50 that do NOt require heat.
His price is excellent ($1.65 per solid stick for the Star and hollow stick for RCBS or Lyman) if bought in plastic bags. That's the way I buy it. Formerly, I made my own lube but at the price Lars sells his excellent lubes I no longer bother making my own. He will also sell it to you in bulk at VERY favorable prices (by the pound).

I ordered some Carnuaba Red for the IPSC guns, and some 50/50 for everything else last week. The order arrived today. I will try the Carnauba Red at this months IPSC match, and see how much it smokes.

I never pay much attention to the smell and smoke of bullet lubes. Carnauba Red has worked just fine for me. I hit what I was shooting at, and that is all that is important to me.

I will definitely second that! I mean, what's the big deal with the smoke? Who cares? Smoke & fire! That's what it's all about! Hey! Shoot a flintlock sometime! Heh-heh. Oh yea & if one is sensitive to smell . . . You'll love the smell of burnt black powder! Smells like someone passed gas after eating a dozen hard boiled eggs! LOLOLOLOLOLL !

If someone else had of done to me what I did to myself . . . I'd have killed him. Humility is an asset. Heh - heh.

Ed, I know this is a year old but did you try the Magma lube in your Star for high volume 45ACP? If you did how was it?
Thanks
