At one time I had an MOA silhouette pistol chambered in 7.62x39. I used the RCBS 165 grain Silhouette cast bullet in it. I cannot recall the powder that I used. My brass was Lapua but at the time supposedly Remington had brass with a small primer pocket. I wish I had tried the Remington cases but despite that, the round was quite accurate.
If your rifle makes weight with a scope it could be a viable Production category match rifle.

Not a 7.62 but in my 300 Ham'r 150 gr to a 180 gr bullet on 17 gr of reloader 7 cycle good and excellent accuracy might be a starting place , and in a SKS I have had good results with 150 gr plated bullets and 21 gr. of reloader 7

With the Lee 155 gr. bullet 25 gr. Reloader 7 works well and also 15.5 of 2400. 15.5 of 2400 is 1703 FPS out of my gun.

I've been using my GI M1 carbine with ONLY cast bullets for years with NO problems at all.

30 cal. XCB bullet sized .312" pushed by 17.0 grains of 1680. I use it to shoot steel buffalo at 210 yards from a 7.62x39 upper.

Has anyone had any problems with fouling in the piston area?
I have an unfired Mini 30 in 7.62 that I haven’t gotten around to shooting yet.
Lots of good stuff from Harris’s posts. Not at my fingertips right now. Bill C.
