The'll all will do.

Keep a steel rod handy in case a bullet is  left stuck in the barrel, then go up with the powder a half grain at a time ,you will be the judge in the compromise of the noise level an the bullet's balliatics.

I was playing with the 311299 and 700X  with Fed Large Rifle primers today starting with 4.5 grs and reducing a little at a time and got down to 2 grs and it sounds like a 22 short . Started raining so Ill get back to it another time but am going to switch to CCI200 primers and 3.5grs and reduce from there. The Fed primers are a little hotter so Ill start again . I was just going for noise now then Ill check accuracy .

Need to check red dot too , still have some in the little square cans :D

If you can locate a copy,HANDLOADER magazine #177 (Oct. - Nov. 1995)has data for a number of heavy bullet loads for the 7.62x39. Data was worked up in a Ruger bolt action.

Take a look farther down the posts (page 2) for subsonic 7.62x39mm 200-gr cast loads; the data from the above article is there.

7.62x39 heavy bullet success story; I've been messing around with different loads in my H&R 7.62x39 single shot. Best load so far has been a 180 gr. Lee custom 311407 type fat .30 from a group buy mold I borrowed. These are a tapered flat point Loverin style that cast .318/.304. Tumble lubed with 50/50 LLA and Johnsons Paste Wax and a gc, I sized them in a Lee .313 push thru die which only touches the bottom 1/3 of this bullet. 14 gr. of AA 5744 and a CCI 400 small rifle primer. The cases are new RP with the small primer hole. The OAL was just long enough to be a slight squeeze fit when the action is closed. With a Simmons 4X scope on board these went into 1 3/4” for 5 at 100, with the first 4 in 1 1/4". Every shot moved a bit to the right with #5 winging out there and stealing my joy. Still, I'm excited that I may have stumbled onto a winner and will work to perfect it more. First off will be a scope change, I'm going up to a 36x fixed for this one. Might be my ticket to fame and fortune.  I will also try the Harris/Lee bullet from a mold borrowed from the same friend who loaned me the Lee GB mold. The AA5744 is running out in my locker and cash is very very scarce these days at my house, so may try other powders. In this load it did not burn completely leaving unburnt kernels in the bore. 5744 did not work well with the lighter bullets I've tried.  PS, I also have an old H&R 157 30-30 full stock that I'm going to work up for a comparison of the two little .30s. Either one of these guns will qualify for several different postal matches for next year. I'm getting tired of being DFL!

Load that worked well in my CZ527 carbine was a custom plain base mountain mould that is a copy of the RCBS .308-200-SILH bullet, as cast base diameter is .313", large single lube groove, .313” .050” long shoulder long taper .250” to the nose diameter of  .3025” it has the long bore ride section like the RCBS and was 1.194” long cast from WW. See 200 Silh photo take off GC step leave a .130” base length.

Load was 195gr above bullet, 11.7gr of AA #9 powder, Fed large rifle primers in Lapua 7.62x39 cases bullet seated about .300” deep in case, OAL of 2.420", single feed only in the CZ.

This load shot really well even at 200yds, I know MM can make the mould for you with or without the GC, all I did was send a drawing of the scaled up RCBS cavity to fit the neck/throat casting of my CZ.

I did try Bullseye and AA#9 but with the old Lyman 311359. I 'beagled' the mold up and then sized them to .313. My H&R wouldn't shoot this bullet better than about 3". Soon I'll have unlimited C312-155-2Rs to shoot and will definitely try those loads. Unless this was a fluke my H&R may be a shooter. I need to get it down under 1” repeatable to be competitive with it. I also have a NOE 316299(314299 modified) that is similar to the above bullet, sort of. What the heck, I'll try it too. Thanks for the suggestions.

I used to shoot 23gr W748 under a 180gr jacketed bullet in my SKS. 1600fps and cycled nicely. Good target load.
