I have a Uberti1876 Winchester in .45-60. I've made several hundred .45-60 out of Federal .45-70 since I had these and this was a good usage. The loads are from the latest Lyman Reloading Manual to duplicate black powder loading with a 300 grain bullet. This is one rifle I always wanted and finally bought the Uberti to get a shooter.
Many decades ago, I bought an original .45-90 1895 Marlin built in 1914. a square bolt. I got thirty well-used .45-90 cases. When asking about more cases, the gunsmith said to use .45-70 with the bullet set out. I did this since I wanted to shoot the the rifle. The Marlin had a 1:18 twist which stabilized the heavier 500 grain bullets and this worked well. Then Starline made the .45-90 brass and I bought them.
