The final set of targets went out this morning.  I finally stumbled across the box I packed the targets in when I moved and was able to get these out.  My apologies to those who were waiting.

In light of the continuing madness regarding the current flu strain, I am changing the requirements for submitting targets.

Targets will no longer need to be mailed!  Post your target in this thread with your load and firearm information.  All results will be determined from this thread alone!

I was probably far too ambitious when I started this match and have had to adjust along the way but I will say that I plan to host this match again in 2021.  Happy shooting.

(For those who have already submitted targets, I will post these for you prior to the deadline.)

..i had almost given up on finding a groundhog ... mostly because we have 5 inches of icy snow here ... but a miracle !! ...  a chuck was seen under my birdfeeder just at dusk and i grabbed my 45-70 plinker rifle and some remnants of earlier plinker loads ( ruger 3 with 3-9 scope and 230 gr Lee Old Army cast ... 13 gr Unique ...) ... he was having trouble getting through the icy snow and when he hit a drift at about 50 yards away he just tried jumping up and down rapidly to beat a path ... my aim standing was rock solid but he just wouldn't stop fibrillating, so i let him have a full pocket full .. ..... as the last shot struck him in the heart he turned and gave me a fellow soldiers salute, and then fell, still holding the salute .

next spring, when the ground melts for easier digging, , i will give him a proper burial ...  with a full 45-70 sendoff.

unless my dog finds him first.

Well I shot some at a practice target offhand.

Then the stand blew over.

Hmmm I’ll shoot this sitting elbows on knees have to be steadier.

The damn critter jumped down a burrow half way through and I had to fetch him out and stand him up again.(stand blew over)

I goofed the last shot and I could see myself just squeezing the trigger with a lazy snap shot.

I have no idea why I could not stop myself for throwing away the last shot but I wasn’t in the running anyway when I walked up and collected my target.

Shot with the mighty 310 cadet.

‘I found it very hard to see and shoot at a mere 50 yards with open sights.

‘Maybe it was how the light was hitting the target at the time.

Thanks for the shoot.

I have had fun.

A big thanks to Bohica793 for keeping this running not only from  this last years global events but also through personal hardships as well.

‘Thanks Mate !

H&R in 45 Colt; Green Mountain 1:16 barrel; 4 power Bushnell scope; sitting, this time with cross sticks; Lee 452-255 RF as cast; Hi-Tek poly coat; 8 grains Unique.  This time around, I very, very carefully counted out 10 rounds and set them aside to avoid the previous catastrophe. Still didn't help my chances at that darn trophy.

H&R Handi-Rifle 327 Federal; Green Mountain 7.62x39 barrel 1:9.5 twist; 4x32 Bushnell banner scope; sitting field position, no cross sticks; Lee C312-155 as cast with no gas check; Hi-Tek poly coat; 3 grains Red Dot.    Obviously, I can't count to ten, and in the thrill of the hunt lost all track of shots fired, and in doing so, forfeited my chance at the coveted woodchuck trophy.

First of all, my apologies for the tardiness of posting these.  Life has been.....well, life.  I have been dealing with a number of issues which have kept me off the range and off the net for a while.

The deadline for posting targets here is fast approaching (December 15).  Post your pics here and claim bragging rights.

Ahhhh, another Thusday

Will not let me post pictures

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

I don't think it's you. I can't see any pictures either, to include the ones I had posted. I think there might be something wrong with the site. Funny thing is I could see your target in the email notification, but not here in the forum. Good shooting!

GH 2020Finally, shot the first one in May, took all summer to finish

The M/N 91/30 was a disappointment, new MOJO sights, the rear Aperture was too large giving me a lot of vertical, never shot plain base in it before either

I was really impressed with the 1876 Vetterli, unbelievable how well it shoots, slugged balls are almost square when measured, lands and grooves are the same width, most of the newer Vetterli's are .432 groove, mine slugs at ,440+ , brass is made from 8mm Lebel..

This is aa relly tough target to shoot with iron sights and old eyes

Chuck

Yes the deadline is December 15.  I have been completely swamped between wife's hospital stays and hurricane cleanup.  Life is slowly getting back to normal but still a lot of work to do.
