Only about 3rd. time out to range with this one.  Custom .38-55 Ruger No.1  Kepplinger set trigger.  Fired nice 5 shot group..started on another & had mis-fire..could feel set trigger release...primer had very tiny indent.  Checked safety on & off..re cocked rifle & missfire..only now safety wont go to safe.  Re cocked action & now sear won't engage..lever has spring pressure all the way to fully open position.  Wonder whats going on?:(

Sounds like you may not have enough backlash in the trigger.  Try adjusting it for more and see if it works.

+1  Sounds like trigger clean, lubricate and re-adjustment needed.

the sear adjustment screw on the trigger must be locktited after the trigger has been adjusted to clear the safety lever

I just installed one yesterday, Brownells finally had them in stock

several have had trouble when installing aftermarket triggers in the no. 1 ... usually it needs a little filing/grinding in the safety area the ruger safety apparently was a late friday afternoon deadline design, things are a little snug in there .

Ruger #1s are too nice to be unhappy with a trigger. I hope you get it perfect for your needs. A good smith can get one the way I like triggers, 2# crisp break with zero creep.
