Well I was sitting around feeling a little bored today, checked the gun cupboard for things to do, and all I could find was an empty box with 35 W - Cast. written on it. Realizing I had not loaded any cast for the Rem for quite a while, I decided to use up some ADI Trail Boss and the last hundred or so 158g round noses I had left over from my 357 magnum Rossi lever action. Although I can't remember shooting this load before, I have the Targets and data, up on the wall to satisfy my conscience. 14.0 grains gave a 1” group at 50 yards, good enough for me. Now for some bang bang bang, fun. :fire PS, could anyone give me an aprox speed for this load, the 7600 has a 22” barrel. Cheers, S/S S.A.

Cannot speak for Trail Boss, but back in my .35 Whelen days my favorite plinker was a 200-grain RCBS flatnose without the gascheck, using either 8 grains of Bullseye or 10 grains of Unique for 1080 fps from a 22” barrel, and I found it highly satisfactory.
Today my .35 cal. rifle plinker is an 1894 Winchester relined to .35 with 16” twist, using a .30-30 or .32 Special case necked up, or a Starline 2.080” .38-55 case necked down, using 8 grains of Bullseye with a 260-grain LBT bullet, for similar velocity out of a 20” barrel.

Good shooting. Sounds like a lot of fun. All I can add is expect low velocities from safe TB loads. It's known to hit high pressures w/o much velocity. I have a jug, it's excellent for it's intended purpose. I've gotten very good accuracy with it in a .444 single shot. I've lusted for an old Remington like yours for a while.

I must say I'v have had very good results from TB in all manor of calibers. Cast and jacketed. 204, 222r, 223, 22H, 6.5 X 55, 3006, 32/40, 35Wh, 357m. Usually just playing around, after all isn't that what we do. But as for the .204, it is a very good little bunny gun out to 100yds with the 32g Sierras and TB. Quiet too. The Rossi lever in 357m also was good with TB and cast. Didn't bother in the 25.06, 7mm RM, 38/55 OR 40/65.

Hi tturner53,
yes she's a good ol girl, have done some damage with her in the past, jacketed and cast loads will stop a good sized pig and fallow deer or large roo. Full loads and 250g jackets hit hard on larger game as you would know.
