First off we have a doe I killed three years ago with my grnadfathers old circa 1882 W&C Scott 10 gauge shooting handloaded 00 buck !

Shot the deer at a lasered 25 yards , at the shot the deer hit the ground end of that story !

I just hope my grandfather was looking down the day I killed that deer .

Have a circa 1923 Ithaca NID Grade 2 10 gauge with fluid steel barrels waiting it's chance to kill a deer this year . I've been carrying that one with #3 in the right barrel and 000 in the left barrel .

I did need to follow up a deer this year during DCP hunting and I finished it off when it jumped up with the Ithaca using #3's at about 30 yards . But that doesn't meet my criteria for killing a deer with the gun outright .

Have some 12's I wanna do deer in with as well . Pair of Parkers , pair of LC Smith's , pair of Fox Sterlingworths , one Ithaca , a JP Sauer drilling , a WW Greener and a Westley Richards .

In 16's I have a circa 1930 AH Fox a Grade , a Kettner , two drillings , a circa 1940 H&R Top Lever single barrel and a Remington 48 with a Cutts on the end .

In 20's I have a pair of Philadelphia made Fox Sterlingworths I wanna try on deer with buck .

And of course I wanna try a good many of these with some type of roundball or mini ball slug !

Quite a list you got there! I've never shot a deer with buck shot myself, every time I look into the safe and wonder what I want to take hunting, it's always a rifle, I like to walk around too much.

Very rarely will I ever go with buckshot only generally if I have a shotgun with buckshot there's a rifle up the tree with me also . The only time I carry just a buckshot shotgun is when I hunt with done friends and they do man drives .

Pa has some buck shot only areas, and slugs can be used anywhere with rifles, I'm not sure about the legality of buck and ball loads though. I better keep those for fun shooting and intruders.

I used to hunt Wayne , Monroe and Pike counties in the Poconos and always used a rifle if done sort . My friends I hunted with were all from Doyelstown and they told me about the regs around the subs if Philly !

Thought I was gonna get a chance to (by my criteria) blood the Ithaca NID Grade 2 10 gauge !

Had the right barrel loaded with #3 Buck and the left with 000 Buck .

A buck was about 50 yards from me in a thicket . I couldn't get a clear shot with the 444 and was hoping it would come out to close enough for the shotgun . But as the comedian says NO CIGAR !

Changed my stand site for in the morning !

Gonna carry my new Remington 700 6.5-06 and the Ithaca NID 10 gauge !

If a deer comes out in front of me in the open area I can pop it with the rifle and if it's semi close in the brush behind me can you say 10 gauge BUCKSHOT !

Well sir, either sounds like an effective combination to put meat on the table. Will you be using cast bullets in the Remington?

A little late but a buckshot deer none the less !

1920's Ithaca NID 10 gauge with handloaded #3 Buck in the right barrel and handloaded 000 Buck in the left barrel !

First shot was at 20 or so yards coming straight at me I hit him in the face and briskit with the #3 Buck . He turned slightly and the second shot with the 000 was behind the shoulder at about 15-20 yards . After the second shot he ran about 40-50 yards in the thickest stuff he could find and dropped dead .

The fourth buckshot deer of my 52 years and the third this season .
